Little Voice is the Nickname of Laura, an introverted young woman who lives with her brassy mother, and spends her time playing old records from her late, lamented father's collection. Hours spent listening to Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and other show-stopping divas is the only means of escape from her dreary existence in a crumbling house in a seaside town. When her mother's own 'Elvis breath', the low-budget showbiz promoter, Ray Say, hears 'LV' imitating her heroines he soon hears the sound of shillings, pounds and pence.
