When winter starts to set in, Florence the hedgehog wants to go outside and play with her squirrel friends before its time to hibernate. Florence's mother and the other woodland animals warn Florence and her friends not to go too far into the woods, but they don't listen. As it starts to get colder, Florence isn't sure she's having fun any more, and when a fox chases them, Florence is sure she wants to go back home! With the help of her friends, she's able to make it back safely, just in time for dinner and her long winter sleep.

Go Home, Little One by Cate James is one of two lovely new books from Words and Pictures. In this one we meet Florence who loves every season except perhaps winter for she has yet to experience it. Of course this is the cue for an adventure and a charmingly reassuring tale.
(Armadillo)CATE JAMES studied at the Edinburgh College of Art. She visits schools, libraries and festivals to talk and create drawings with children, and has taken part in the Association of Illustrators annual show, and an exhibition of five illustrators at the Scottish National Gallery. Cate is currently Illustrator in Residence at the Sick Kids hospital in Edinburgh, where she is working on a project with the children. This is the first book she has both written and illustrated, and it confirms her natural storytelling ability.
