Der Einsatz eines reichhaltigen Vorgehensmodells wie dem V-Modell XT, scheitert oft an seinem Formalismus. Dabei ist der Einsatz standardisierter Vorgehen beim "Software Engineering" durchaus notwendig. Eine Möglichkeit die Akzeptanz für Vorgehensmodelle zu steigern und sie im Entwicklungsalltag beherrschbar zu machen, ist die Unterstützung durch geeignete Werkzeuge. IBM-Jazz ist eine Plattform, die mehrere Entwicklungswerkzeuge, je eines für jede Phase des Softwarelebenszyklus, miteinander integriert. Dieses Buch zeigt mit der Implementierung eines Prototypen, dass es möglich ist, das V-Modell XT werkzeuggestützt in IBM-Jazz umzusetzen. Dieses Buch ist der Nachdruck einer Diplomarbeit. Der ursprünglichen Diplomarbeit liegt eine CD-ROM mit dem Inhalt der Online-Literaturquellen zum Zeitpunkt der Recherche, diversen Referenzdateien zur Analyse, sowie den Quelltexten und dem kompilierten Prototyp bei. Dieser Nachdruck beinhaltet keine CD-ROM, ihre Inhalte können jedoch mit einer "wohlgeformten" E-Mail beim Autor erfragt werden ;).
