Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition. HARDBACK - A very good book with clean red cloth boards that show minor soiling to the upper corner of the front panel, with light fading to a small area of the spine tips. Internally, there is foxing to the page block with sporadic foxing to some of the inner pages. Dustiness to the top page block. The dust wrapper is a very good example with some very subtle restoration to a small area at the base of the spine affecting a couple of letters of the crime club, also to a very small area of the spine tip, not affecting any of the lettering. The light restoration is of the highest quality, and is only partial, as small chips have been left un-touched at the spine tips, giving the dust wrapper a more natural look. There are some closed tears to the extremities, with hairline creases to the front panel. Overall, the dust wrapper is a clean example with minimal fading to the spine, with the publisher's printed price of 7/6net present to the spine.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. AGATHA CHRISTIE - DEATH ON THE NILE, published by UK publisher Collins, copyright 1937, First Printing (states "Copyright 1937" on copyright page with no references to subsequent printings), lists to "Dumb Witness" on list of Christie books to left of title page, 4 pages of ads at rear (reviews for "Dumb Witness" "Cards On The Table" & "Murder in Mesopotamia" & ad to join the Crime Club), orange cloth boards with black lettering to spine and front board, correct 1st state original Dust Jacket (generic reviews to rear panel & reviews for last 3 books to rear flap) . Book has just a couple of creased page corners, no former owner or used bookstore markings/stamps inside, clean endpapers with no staining or tape residue, no foxing to pages, endpapers, or outer pages, hint of age darkening/dust soiling to outer page edges, no lettering fading/wear to spine (common defect with these early Collins 1st print books), no wear to board edges, just a hint of wear to board corners, slight wear to spine tip corners, usual slight dust/handling soiling to cloth boards, slight spine sun fading. Original Dust Jacket has no restoration but has been slightly trimmed at top and bottom (obviously taken from a Collins "ex-libris" edition book where a couple of % of the first printing were printed in different colored slightly smaller but stronger boards and hinges with the round "ex-libris" logo at bottom of front board) however all of the spine printing is still retained despite the trimming (unlike other restored out there for sale), no chipping or tearing or creasing, slight wear to spine tips with largish 'v' losses at spine tip corners, slight wear to front flap crease (nick losses at flap crease corners), almost no edge wear, hint of dust soiling/foxing to white rear panel, slight spine sun darkening, no scotch tape marks to flaps, no soiling or staining. Overall a VG book in VG/VG+ condition (trimmed) dust jacket (price clipped) of a rare 1930s era UK Agatha Christie 1st printing IN ORIGINAL FIRST STATE DUST JACKET. I have a number of other U.K. and U.S. Agatha Christie 1st printing hardcover books up for sale.

First Dodd, Mead Edition. First Printing. Octavo (19.25cm); jade green cloth, with titles stamped in red on spine and front cover; light green topstain; dustjacket; [8],9-296pp. Base of spine gently nudged, else a fresh, Fine copy. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.00), showing some trivial wear to extremities, a few tiny nicks and tears, and a small, faint splash mark at mid-spine; bright, unrestored, and very Near Fine. Housed in a custom half-morocco clamshell case. Christie's first book, narrated by a Captain Hastings, home from the Western Front, who is convalescing at Styles Court, the stately home of a friend in Essex. Styles is ruled by the septuagenarian matriarch of the family, who dies suddenly in a fit of convulsions, determined to be strychnine poisoning. The family calls on Scotland Yard, who arrests the matriarch's much younger new husband. Meanwhile, Hastings encounters his old friend Hercule Poirot, late of the Belgian police, in a nearby settlement for Belgian refugees, who goes on to carry out a parallel investigation to Scotland Yard. "Christie gives the reader a great deal of help in the form of plans of the layout of the first floor of the house and of the victim's bedroom together with examples of handwriting, letters, mysterious messages and so on, in addition to the carefully developed plot, but as like as not, most readers will not know the solution until the neat little foreign detective, with his egg-shaped head, waxed moustaches and quaint command of the English language, solves the murder to the amazement and discomfiture of the police and everyone else" (Wagstaff & Poole, pp.17-18). The true first edition of The Mysterious Affair at Styles was published in New York by the John Lane Company in 1920. This was followed by what is generally accepted as the Second US edition, authorized by John Lane and published by the National Book Company (ca.1922-23). Beginning with Christie's second book, The Secret Adversary, Dodd, Mead & Co. became her American publisher through the end of her career. By 1926, they had secured the copyright and reprint rights for her debut, and thus The Mysterious Affair at Styles was published in a uniform style with her early 1920s novels (The Secret Adversary through The Murder of Roger Ackroyd). They retained the same jacket artwork for this edition that appeared on the 1920 US and 1921 UK editions. The first US and UK editions of this title are essentially unobtainable in dustjacket; neither appear in the auction record, and the consensus among colleagues I've queried is: "It's a ghost." This one's beautiful, and if you want a "First" in dustjacket, it's your best (and maybe only) option. Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone; Barzun & Taylor 780.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A true rarity: This splendid copy is handsomely bound in finely woven orange cloth stamped brightly with black border rules and lettering on the front boards and on the spine. A near-fine copy internally; printed on heavy white stock, virtually unread. With clean, crisp endpapers. A fresh, crisp, unread copy. With the merest touch of wrinkling to the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine ends. A remarkably clean and unsophisticated copy of this classic tale of Miss Marple's investigation of murder at the vicarage in St. Mary Mead. A superb collector s copy. Protected by a facsimile dust jacket. The Murder at the Vicarage is a work of detective fiction by British writer Agatha Christie, first published in the UK by the Collins Crime Club in October 1930[1] and in the US by Dodd, Mead and Company later in the same year.[2][3] The UK edition retailed at seven shillings and sixpence[1] and the US edition at $2.00.[3] It is the first novel to feature the character of Miss Marple and her village of St Mary Mead. This first look at St Mary Mead led a reviewer in 1990 to ask why such works are described as cosy mysteries: "Our first glimpse of St Mary Mead, a hotbed of burglary, impersonation, adultery and ultimately murder. What is it precisely that people find so cosy about such stories?"[4] The character had previously appeared in short stories published in magazines, starting in December 1927. These earlier stories were collected in book form in The Thirteen Problems in 1932. (Wikipedia) First Edition with "Copyright,1930" at the center of the copyright page; and "Printed in Great Britain" at the bottom of the page; no subsequent printings listed.

Soft Cover. First Edition. The hand-typed manuscript of an uncollected and hitherto unpublished Poirot story. The manuscript is 92-pages long and is bound in yellow card covers held together by 3 large staples overlaid by blue tape. There is a pale blue label on the front cover upon which has been typed in dark blue type: ***/ THE GREENSHORE FOLLY/ By/ AGATHA CHRISTIE/ ***. The manuscript is un-dated but is definitely pre-1956. On the front cover is an embossment from Ethel Christian Limited (typewriting, shorthand and duplicating), 36-38 Southampton Street, Strand, W.C.2. Temple Bar 2904. On the inside cover there is a small red label (with black lettering) from Ethel Christian Limited with her address details in W.C.2. On the outside of the manuscript there is a small piece of paper attached (with typing on the verso) that says: GREENSHORE FOLLY original short story. Basis for novel DEAD MAN S FOLLY. Short Story GREENSHAW S FOLLY substituted for story above. The Greenshore Folly is referred to in several Agatha Christie bibliographical lists and is a detective novella featuring Hercule Poirot which was expanded in 1956 into the full-length novel, Dead Man s Folly. The Greenshore Folly is not to be confused with the entirely un-related Miss Marple Story Greensh aw s Folly which was published in The Adventures of the Christmas Pudding in 1960. The Greenshore Folly is one of the rarest Agatha Christie manuscripts to have appeared on the market in many years. £20,000.

Libro Prima edizione
A first edition, first printing published by Collins [Crime Club] in 1940. A near fine book with one neat inscription to the front endpaper, accompanied by a small bookseller's ticket to the foot of the pastedown. Absolutely no fading to the spine - a touch rubbed to the edges. In a very good wrapper which is unpriced and unclipped. The wrapper is completely without restoration. A minute chip to the edge of the spine foot. The rear panel is exceptionally clean and the wrapper is in very fresh condition. The story revolves around the character of Elinor Carlisle, who is accused of murdering her rival in love, Mary Gerrard. Hercule Poirot is called in to investigate. The novel delves into themes of jealousy, love, and the complexities of human relationships, with Poirot using his keen deductive skills to uncover the truth behind the murder. As with many of Christie's works, "Sad Cypress" is known for its intricate plot and unexpected twists. The title is drawn from a song in Shakespeare's play 'Twelfth Night' and is partly courtroom based.

First edition of Christie's masterful murder mystery; one of her personal favorites. Octavo, original boards. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To John Agatha Christie Sept 1970." Fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. Jacket design by Kenneth Farnhill. Housed in a custom clamshell box by the Harcourt Bindery. Rare and desirable signed and inscribed. One of Christie's favorites among her works, Endless Night was first published in the U.K. by the Collins Crime Club on October 30, 1967 and in the U.S. by Dodd, Mead and Company the following year. The work received some of the warmest critical reviews of Christies career upon publication. "The old maestrina of the crime-novel (or whatever is the female of 'maestro') pulls yet another out of her inexhaustible bag with Endless Night, quite different in tone from her usual work. It is impossible to say much about the story without giving away vital secrets: sufficient to warn the reader that if he should think this is a romance he couldn't be more mistaken, and the crashing, not to say horrific suspense at the end is perhaps the most devastating that this surpriseful author has ever brought off" (Francis Iles, The Guardian).
