No date of publication; the publisher moved to 6 Rue des Saints-Pères in 1873. The year assigned in WorldCat, 1876, is consistent with this. The author, Anne-Louise-Germaine Necker, Baroness de Staël-Holstein (1766-1817), was a French-Swiss writer and early champion of women's rights. Corinne (first published in 1807) was an early Romantic novel, based on de Stael's travels in Italy and Germany. In Good+ Condition: leather is rubbed; front joint is starting; minor loss at spine ends; closed 3-cm. from lower edge of p. 107; a few pencilled notations in first 150 pages; otherwise, clean and tight.
