Descrizione libro: Doubleday, New York, 1970. Cloth. Condizione libro: Fine+. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine+. Seymour Chwast Dustjacket Art (illustratore). First Edition. This is the author's 21st published novel in book form (from 1957 to 1970 not to mention all of the short stories ,now that's prolific !). The book opens with "My mother is an ape.My father is God.I am the only white man in the world.I come from the Land of Ghosts." This is the chant of Ras Tyger ,Farmer's own conception of a Lord of the Jungle ,who ,as he reaches adolescence begins to wonder about the "machine-like large destructive birds that fly over head ,and of his own creation and the land beyond his "kingdom". The truth of his life is that as a crazed millionaire named Boygur ,purchased a very young child with noble blood and constructed different interconnected jungle environs for the child to grow into a real "Tarzan" ,.Boygur even had midgets dress up in beleivable ape suits to act as Ras' ape parents and two black helicopters (the "machine-like birds) to oversee the jungle to make sure no strangers wander in.Boygur was a fanatic about the Tarzan novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs and was so obsessed to create his own at any cost. In the end things turn out differently than either had imagined. Farmer wrote many books with characters borrowed from fiction and constructed the family tree which showed how many ,in fact ,were related ,among them are Tarzan ,Doc Savage ,The Shadow ,Solomon Kane ,Harry Flashman ,Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarity ,Sam Spade ,Lew Archer ,Fu-Manchu and many more. The concept and family tree has come to be known as the Wold Newton Universe. This is a beautiful ,unread ,tight ,square copy with bright blue cloth with brilliant gold spine titles and nice sharp corners and board edges. The pages are white with no marks ,corner folds ,stains or any flaws at all. The endpapers have a very slight amount of very minor tanning in the gutters near the top which was caused by the acidic glue used in the binding process and is found on most copies. Overall a beautiful fine to very fine copy in a very nice ,bright ,unmarked dustjacket with the original $5.95 price intact and even the original gloss is present. There are no tears ,chips ,creases ,folds ,stamps ,marks of any kind. This is a predominately white dustjacket and there is some very minor minor tanning to the fold edges and faintly to the spine ,but no fading to any of the blue ,red and green titles and decorations. A wonderful copy of a fragile book that had a small print run with most copies going to libraries.
