L'Autore fu il primo dei giureconsulti italiani a porre in dubbio la validità delle tesi assolutistiche. Ancora prima del Montesquieu nel suo trattato mostra il proprio pensiero sul problema del diritto pubblico con una sottilissima analisi dell'evoluzione storica dell'ordinamento giuridico romano e con una profonda disquisizione sulle questioni relative alla sovranità. Con Gravina si comincia a vagheggiare l'ideale di un diritto di ragione e si vedono affermati quelli che saranno i postulati del nuovo diritto pubblico, la divisione dei poteri, il limite all'autorità statale e la tesi della inalienabilità della sovranità popolare che appartiene ai cittadini e che non può essere mai concessa al detentore del potere politico se non per un esercizio temporaneo e vincolato ad usarla per il bene di tutti. Richard Morton (1637-1698) était un médecin anglais qui fut le premier à affirmer que les tubercules étaient toujours présents dans la maladie tuberculeuse des poumons. À l'époque de Morton, cette maladie débilitante était appelée consomption, ou par son nom grec de phtisie . La reconnaissance des nombreux symptômes possibles de cette infection appartenant à une même maladie ne se fit que dans les années 1820 et c'est JL Schönlein en 1839 qui introduisit le terme "tuberculose".

Des tampons sur la page de titre la dernière page de l'index et sur le premier plat, des rousseurs et pages fortement brunies, des passages soulignés et des notes manuscrites anciennes, tranche de tête noircie, manques de cuir sur les parties recouvrantes de la reliure, 2 pages collées et décollées p. 124-125, ont laissé une trace dans le texte. Christophe Plantin plaçait sur le frontispice de ses livres une vignette gravée sur bois, représentant une main sortant d un nuage, traçant un cercle avec un compas. Cette marque est toujours accompagnée de sa devise : Labore et Constantia (« Par le travail et la Persévérance »). Texte en latin. Vignetta alla pagina 1 incisa dal Perotti raffigurante il primato dell'Italia sulle genti. Qualche capolettera; ampi margini, indice intonso, carta spessa splendide barbe 22 righe di Note coeve alla sguardia inferiore. Ottimo esemplare Opera di notevole importanza, comparsa nel periodo della mania "celtica" che affliggeva alcuni pionieri dell'epigrafia italiana.

Boutats), frontespizio stampato a due colori con vignetta centrale, 6 testatine, 32 culs-de-lampe (due di mezza pagina), 9 grandi capolettere illustrati e 18 tavole fuori testo, il tutto (tranne l'antiporta, di Boutats) disegnato ed inciso su rame da Jan Van Vianen (1660-1703). Ciascuna tavola contiene 6 medaglioni raffiguranti scene delle varie favole di Fedro. Profonde fenditure alle cerniere; all'interno, rare, lievissime arrossature. Nel complesso un buon esemplare ad ampi margini, ancora piuttosto fresco, di una delle più belle edizioni illustrate delle favole di Fedro, dal superbo corredo iconografico. L'edizione è a cura di David Van Hoogstraten. Tre ex libris (al contropiatto anteriore e al recto e al verso del foglio di guardia libero a fronte). Manca il ritratto di Giovanni Guglielmo il Frisone. Brunet, IV, 588: "Édition fort soignée sous le rapport de la métrique et contenant un bon choix de notes; mais ce qui le recommande particulièrement, ce sont les belles gravures?.
