Tutta la possente originalità di George Byron emerge in queste straordinarie satire considerate esiti di classica perfezione. George Byron nacque a Londra nel 1788 e morì nel 1824 a Missolungi, nel golfo di Patrasso, dove si era recato a combattere per l'indipendenza dei Greci insorti. E tra i maggiori esponenti del romanticismo inglese. Tra i suoi libri: II pellegrinaggio del giovane Aroldo (1818) e Don Giovanni (1824). Ferrarese, collaboratore dei principali quotidiani italiani e delle più prestigiose riviste letterarie, Franco Giovanelli è stato traduttore di John Donne e di Shelley.
