To Kill A Mockingbird
Descrizione libro: J. B. Lippincott, Philadelphia, 1960. Condizione libro: Very Good+. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good-. Thirty-Ninth Printing. This copy is SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR in ink on the title page: "Harper Lee." One of the enduring American novels and a cornerstone of modern American fiction, her first (and only) novel has not been out of print since its first publication in 1960. This copy was probably published in the 1970's as there is an ISBN number on the copyright page and a number string below that indicating a range of printings from 45 to 39. The lower rear corner of the rear panel of the dust jacket also contains an ISBN number. The book is in very good condition with no owner names, book shop stickers, or writing on any of the pages. The covers are clean and bright with no trace of edgewear. The book is bound in dark brown boards with a dark green spine with black lettering. There is a small stain on the rear free end paper and the front free end paper as well, neither are particularly objectionable. There is also slight bleed through of the glue the publisher's used when binding this book at the inner gutters of the free end papers. My initial thought was that this is a Book Club edition, however, there are none of the normal Book Club marks on this book or the dust jacket, nor is any book club promotional material laid in, and the pagination is the same as the trade edition--however, this copy does not have a cloth spine nor does it have a headband which are normally associated with trade editions. The dust jacket has the "Pulitzer Prize Novel" imprinted in a white circle that rests over one branch of the tree on the front panel. The lower corner of the front fold over on the jacket is also clipped--where a price (or possibly "Book Club"? ) notation was removed. The rear panel has "The unique history of the Pulitzer Prize novel" which describes some of the acclaim the book receive over the years--printing by four book clubs, critics' choice as the year's best, Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1961, and popular acclaim. The jacket is edgeworn and has a few chips and tears to top and bottom edges; the dust jacket's black spine is clear and bright with no hint of fading. The dust jacket is now in a protective mylar wrapper--this is an easily removable mylar wrapper. The front panel of the dust jacket has reviews by Philliis McGinley, Vogue, and Time magazine; the rear panel has reviews by the Chicago Tribune, the Kansas City Star, Shirley Ann Grau, Elizabeth Gray Vining, and a short biography of Harper Lee. The dimensions are 8.25" by 5.5" inches and 1 inch in thickness. ; 1.3 x 8.1 x 5.5 Inches; 296 pages; Signed by Author. Codice libro della libreria 17291
