L'autore:
Alan Garner was born and still lives in Cheshire, an area which has had a profound effect on his writing and provided the seed of many ideas worked out in his books.
His fourth book, ‘The Owl Service’ brought Alan Garner to everyone’s attention. It won two important literary prizes – The Guardian Award and the Carnegie Medal – and was made into a serial by Granada Television. It has established itself as a classic and Alan Garner as a writer of great distinction.

Black and white illustrations in the text also by Charles Keeping. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with silver titles to the spine. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Slight crease to the top edge of the front board near the spine. Corners sharp. No foxing to the page block edges, but there is a light stain to the fore-edge - not affecting the interior pages. Internally also very good, with a school prize label pasted on the front free endpaper - this has caused a bit of wrinkling to the paper. Pages clean. No creases or tears. Paper stock tanned due to the cheap paper stock used by some publishers at this time. Spine tight. ***In a near fine colour-illustrated dustwrapper that is unpriced. The dustwrapper is complete with no creases or tears, just very light edge rubbing. No fading even to the colours on the spine. The back panel is also very clean, despite having a white background.
