Martin Gray was educated at the Universities of Perugia, Oxford and London. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Studies at the University of Stirling, where he is currently head of Department.
His publications include A Dictionary of Literary Terms (1984, 1992), A Chronology of English Literature (1989) and he is also co-author of the Penguin Book of the Bicycle (1978).
He has been editor of the journal Australian Studies since 1988. At present he is working on a study of the poetry of the first World War and a third edition of his Dictionary of Literary Terms.
