Informazioni sugli autori
Mark Stevens was the art critic for Newsweek between 1977 and 1988 and then moved to the New Republic (1988-95) and New York Magazine (1995-2006). He is the author of a novel, Summer in the City (1984).
In 2007-08, Mark was a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library.
Annalyn Swan is a former senior arts editor of Newsweek. She began her career as a writer at Time, then joined Newsweek in 1980 as music critic and subsequently became the magazine’s arts editor. From 1986 to 1990 she was editor-in-chief of Savvy magazine. She currently teaches in the Biography and Memoir M.A. program at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, as well as at Breadloaf Middlebury School of English.

He described himself as an asthmatic child in Ireland with foxhunting parents and a tyrannical father, but he was also rescued by a series of formidable women women who in this biography emerge in their own right. He was never just a dissolute young man but was also a passionate reader, largely self-taught. Early on, influenced by Eileen Gray, he became a hard-working and ambitious designer, a brief career explored here in detail for the first time. He dreamed of remaking the modern room.Bacon worked no less hard or ambitiously as a painter, at first with little success. Throughout the 1930s and early 40s he suffered ongoing failures, growing isolated and often ill. His health issues throughout his life were far more significant than he revealed.
