An evil ghost, Tertius Fume, is determined to send Septimus on a dangerous Queste, and Septimus ends up going on the Queste in spite of his best efforts to avoid one. Septimus, Jenna, and Beetle embark on an incredible journey where they encounter many quirky new characters, including a devious toll-man, the nasty Guardian of the House of Foryx, and Hotep-Ra, an ancient master Wizard. Their journey ends at the House, an incredible place filled with trapped souls from different times. In a spectacular and hilarious finale, Marcia Overstrand figures out how to rescue the entire gang from the House where all Time meets.
