Tribology of Additively Manufactured Materials: Fundamentals, Modeling, and Applications starts with a look at the history, methods and mechanics of additive manufacturing (AM), focusing on power bed fusion-based and direct energy deposition-based additive manufacturing. Following sections of the book provide a foundational background in the fundamentals of tribology, covering the basics of surface engineering, friction and wear, corrosion and tribocorrosion, and the tribological considerations of a variety of AM materials, such as friction and wear in non-metallic and metallic AM materials, degradation in non-metallic AM components, and corrosion and tribocorrosion in AM components.
The book then concludes with a section covering modeling and simulation scenarios and challenges related to the tribology of AM materials, providing readers with the processing conditions needed to extend and strengthen the lifetime and durability of AM materials and components.

Dr. Pradeep L. Menezes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, USA. Before joining this university, he worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM), and as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Menezes’s productive research career has produced more than several peer-reviewed journal publications book chapters, books related to tribology and a patent. He teaches Introduction to Tribology, Advanced Tribology, Surface Engineering, Introduction to Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Design, and Engineering Composites. He participated in many national and international conferences in roles such as conference paper reviewer, conference review committee member, conference technical committee member, session chairman, Paper Solicitation Chair and technical session organizer.
Manoranjan Misra is a Foundation Professor at the University of Nevada Reno, USA. He has published over 200 journal articles. His research interests are metallurgy, and chemical and material processing.
Dr. Pankaj Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of New Mexico, USA. He obtained his doctoral degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah, USA. He has published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and served as the journal reviewer for more than 25 journals. He has also served as the guest journal editor, session chair in conferences, book chapter reviewer, grant reviewer, and M.S. and Ph.D. theses committee member. Dr. Kumar’s research is in the broader areas of advanced manufacturing and materials design for novel structural and functional applications. His research includes material concepts with specific emphasis on advanced manufacturing, materials processing, and physical and mechanical metallurgy. He teaches mechanical engineering design and advanced manufacturing courses to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of New Mexico.
Tribology of Additively Manufactured Materials: Fundamentals, Modeling, and Applications starts with a look at the history, methods, and mechanics of additive manufacturing (AM), focusing on power bed fusion-based and direct energy deposition-based additive manufacturing. The next section of the book provides a foundational background in the fundamentals of tribology covering the basics of surface engineering, friction and wear, corrosion, and tribocorrosion, and the next section then combines the two prior ones, discussing the tribological considerations of a variety of AM materials such as friction and wear in non-metallic and metallic AM materials, degradation in non-metallic AM components, and corrosion and tribocorrosion in AM components. The book then concludes with a section covering modeling and simulation scenarios and challenges related to tribology of AM materials providing readers with the processing conditions needed to extend the lifetime and strengthen the durability of AM materials and components.
