Concentrating upon techniques and the resulting performance, the text provides chapters on memory management, cache memory, pipelining, reduced instruction set computers (RISCs), single bus multiprocessor systems, interconnection networks, message-passing multiprocessor systems, and dataflow systems. There is also coverage of shared-memory multiprocessor systems and multiprocessors without shared memory. The text is interspersed with case studies.
