Maureen McLaughlin’s Content Area Reading is extremely well written, is organized in a useful manner, stimulates engagement, and is appropriate for students who want to learn to be skilled readers, talkers, and writers.  The activities are captivating and easy for students to do.

I would recommend this text, especially for a graduate, content area reading course.  It covers content area reading in grades 6-12 very well. I love the way McLaughlin lays out strategies and takes the reader through each, step-by-step.
