Lesley Hazleton reported on the Middle East from Jerusalem for more than a dozen years, and has written for Time, The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, and Harpers, among other publications. Her last book, After the Prophet, was a finalist for the PEN-USA book Award. Hazleton lives in Seattle. From Library Journal:
Well-known author Hazleton has written a very personal, honest book about life in Israel, based on her own observations and on conversations with many public figures and members of the general public. It is often a painful book, for it exposes some unattractive features of Israeli life, but it is in no way a malicious indictment. Hazleton, who has lived in Israel for much of her life, is a participant observer, commenting on her own reactions and those of others with whom she engaged in conversation or debate on such topics as war, terrorism, and the search for peace.
