Desmond Seward was born in Paris of a Franco-Irish family, and brought up in England. Fascinated by Richard III since he was a boy, for thirty years he was passionately convinced of the King's innocence - he is now even more passionately convinced of his guilt.

He has published nine other historical books, among them MONKS OF WAR (1995). He lives in Brighton.
