Due to the success of RWI, Ruth Miskin is currently involved in a series of nationwide training programmes for primary schools commissioned by the UK government, aimed at training teachers in effective phonics teaching.
In 2007 the UK's Channel 4 broadcast a series of programmes featuring Ruth Miskin working in a failing school, using the RWI programme to raise standards. In the course of the series, struggling and non-readers were shown developing new confidence, competence and enthusiasm for reading. The results make a compelling case for the effectiveness of the RWI programme.
Read Write Inc. actually teaches children to read and write. We love using this programme because children achieve so much so quickly. They want to read and write. It's the best literacy programme we have ever known. (Lorna Jackson, Headteacher, Maryland Primary School)
