All over the world the practice of peacebuilding is beset with common dilemmas: peace versus justice, religious versus secular approaches, individual versus structural justice, reconciliation versus retribution, and the harmonization of the sheer multiplicity of practices involved in repairing past harms. Jennifer J. Llewellyn is the Viscount Bennett Professor of Law at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. She has publishes and works extensively in the areas of relational theory and restorative justice. Most recently she co-edited the collection Being Relational: Reflections on Relational Theory and Health Law (UBC, 2011). Daniel Philpott is Professor of Political Science and Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He pursues research on religion and global politics and on reconciliation . He is author most recently of Just and Unjust Peace: An Ethic of Political Reconciliation (Oxford, 2012). He works as an activist for reconciliation in Central and Eastern Africa.
