The book begins with an examination of the development of EU employment law focusing on the shift from employment law to employment policy. Catherine Barnard is Professor of European Union Law and Jean Monnet Chair of EU Law at the University of Cambridge. She is also a Fellow of Trinity College. She specializes in European Union Law, labour and discrimination law, and competition law, and has written a number of books including The Substantive Law of the EU: The Four Freedoms (OUP, 2010).
