Dear Sir: This letter refers to our telephone conversation of yesterday regarding the Esterline alternating current voltmeter covered by our requisition § 47-MP. We are informed that the Esterline people do not recommend their new type light weight voltmeter for our use. It will be satisfactory, therefore, for you to furnish us with the large type of portable instrument referred to in your letter of January 7 addressed to Mr. Boston. Regarding the multi-voltage transformer ordered on the same requisition, I understand that the point your factory superintendent wishes to ascertain is what intermediate steps or 100 taps should be provided. The voltmeter is provided with a 750 volt tap so that intermediate taps on the multi-voltage transformer at 1500 and 2250 volts will probably suit our purpose best. If it can be conveniently arranged, we would also like to have a 750 volt tap on the multi-voltage transformer so that it can be used as a protection to the voltmeter.
