Hawline Manor is the home of the two Miss Hawklines, beautiful, generous with their favours - and identical. But Hawkline Manor also houses a very unwelcome guest: a visitor whom Greer and Cameron, professional killers, are required to expel. Led by the enigmatic Magic Child, they embark on their task. But how do you kill something when you don't know what it is? Why is it so difficult to say what you mean in Hawkline Manor? What are The Chemicals? Whatever happened to Daddy? ***Beautiful, evocative, funny and observant, The Hawkline Monster's tight and exciting plot marks a departure in Brautigan's work. Its haunting blend of nystery and magic makes it possibly his best book to date.' [Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper]. ***'Richard Gary Brautigan (Jan 30, 1935 - Sep 16, 1984) was an American novelist, poet, and short story writer. His work often clinically and surrealistically employs black comedy, parody, and satire, with emotionally blunt prose describing pastoral American life, intertwining with technological progress.' [Wiki] ***First impression of the first UK edition in its original dustwrapper. The UK first edition is much less common than the American Simon & Schuster edition, and is hard to find now, especially in such nice, bright collectable condition. Of interest to collectors of 1960s / 1970s counter-culture and Richard Brautigan first edition titles. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.***.
