Schritt fiir Schritt drang ich nun noch ohne mehr im Auge zu haben als eine Orientierung in den Verhält nissen der Germanischen Volker vor und während der Wanderung in die Masse der Nachrichten hinein. Endlich fand ich mich gänzlich gefesselt; es wäre mir kaum mög lich gewesen, mich wieder loszureissen. Da mir vielfach von Zeuss abweichende Ansichten gekommen waren so trieb es mich, ‚dieselben zu rechtfertigen, zu sichern. Und endlich unternahm ich geradezu eine Arbeit darüber.
