In demonstrating the transformative effects of a nurturing community environment for GBT Latinos affected by the AIDS epidemic, Ramirez-Valles illustrates that members find support in one another, as compańeros, in their struggles with homophobia, gender discrimination, racism, poverty, and forced migration.
