La technique du tracé des anciennes écritures arabes antérieurement à l'invention du la'lig, a été comparée avec le chapitre du Râhat eç-çodoûr de Mohammed ben 'ali er - Râwèndî (bibliothèque nationale, suppl. Persan, n° 1314, fonds Schefer) consacré à l'art calligraphique, qui s'étend du f° 169 r° au f° 172 v°. Cet ouvrage, étant des premières années du treizième siècle, antérieur, par conséquent, aux conquêtes des Mongols, nous donne la tradition artistique telle qu'elle s'était conservée dans les écoles d'orient depuis la création de l'art, avant les mo difications importantes que la fantaisie des Persans allait v apporter.
