“You cannot help but commiserate, for this is a man (unlike some other world leaders) who has clearly grappled with his conscience. . . . Engaging.”
—The Globe and Mail
“I cannot recall a previous memoir by a head of state that is intellectually and emotionally engaging on so many pages.”
—The Christian Science Monitor
“Engrossing. . . . Blair writes honestly and openly. . . . It is breezy, informal and candid enough to keep the reader thoroughly engaged. . . . Blair is admirably frank and tough-minded.”
—The New York Times Book Review
"A hugely entertaining read.... All very Blair, all very British."
—The Wall Street Journal
"A Journey is first and foremost a political biography, and... Feelings, authenticity and emotional intelligence are qualities that rank high in Blair's political lexicon. Blair... is one of the great politicians of this generation and that makes his candid moments particularly interesting."
—Los Angeles Times
"A very good book... Just as Casanova wrote memoirs boasting of his amorous conquests, Tony Blair loves telling us about his political seductions. This makes his book exceptionally enjoyable and useful: it shows how politics is actually done."
—The Telegraph (UK)
"What makes [Blair's] memoir so absorbing... is that he is the first of a generation of politicians to conduct their craft as if observing themselves from an amused and admiring distance - and then to write about it."
—The Independent
"[A Journey] offers a fascinating account of his path to leadership. Blair opens compelling vistas on his path to leadership: his triumphs (Northern Ireland and Kosovo), his difficulties (the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan), his challenges (intrigues within his party, especially his successor Gordon Brown), and companions on his journey (including George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Nicolas Sarkozy and the Queen) between 1997 and 2007."
—Harvard Business Review
