Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. Mixed 1st/BCE Edition. W. W. Norton & Company, New York, New York, U.S.A., 1969. This is a mixed first printing of the first edition and book club edition. The copyright page states "First Edition January 20, 1969" and has a full number line to "1", indicating first printing. But for the book club slug on the rear board, the book is indistinguishable from the first printing of the first trade edition. The Dust Jacket differs from the first edition dust jacket only in that it does not have a price and does say "Book- of-the-Month-Club Selection." The publisher took some of the first printings, added a slug and a slightly different dust jacket to create the book club edition of the first edition. As to condition, the book is fine in a good dust jacket. The Text Block, which contains thirty (30) pages of photographs, is clean, off-white, tight, straight and square with no markings of any kind. The Binding is full blue cloth of uniform color throughout, with author's initials blindstamped on the front board, bright gilt title, etc., to spine, all corners square and sharp with very slight wear at the tips, and endpapers containing a facsimile of Robert Kennedy's longhand first draft of the opening paragraphs. The Dust Jacket is intact with a few small chips missing from the top edge and tears along the top edge closed from behind with archival (pH neutral) materials, and wear visible on all surfaces except the flaps. See photos. 224 pages. 6" x 9". This is the personal account of the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) by Robert Kennedy who was at the time both Attorney General of the United States, and the closest advisor to his brother, President John F. Kennedy. Published posthumously after his assassination in June, 1968. The basis for the 1974 made for television play "The Missiles of October", with William Devane as President John F. Kennedy and Martin Sheen as Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. ISBN 10: 0333103122 ISBN 13: 9780333103128. Codice articolo 000397
