Secret Service Code Names

The Secret Service was established in 1865 by Abraham Lincoln. A division of the Department of the Treasury that investigates counterfeiting, the Secret Service began to protect presidents and their families in 1901, after William McKinley was assassinated. Harry Truman was the first chief executive to be assigned a code name.
