Published by William Heinemann Ltd in 1968, here is the sought after first hardback printing of Hunter Davies' The Beatles: The Authorised Biography. Purple cloth binding, gilt lettering, 374 pages, the book is in good condition with some spine slanting near the base causing a very minor twisting of the boards. The dust jacket is good with some spine creasing, some moderate staining to the rear of the jacket at the base and moderate chipping/creasing to the edges and spine. Codice articolo 10850

First impression of the true first edition, published in the UK by William Heinemann in September 1968. With 32 pages of monochrome photographs. Classic 1960s jacket design by Alan Aldridge. ***Very good in purple cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. There is a light vertical reading crease to the spine. Corners sharp. No tears to the cloth. The top edge and fore edge of the text block are discoloured and lightly foxed. Internally also very good with no inscriptions. No tears or creases to the pages. Slight offsetting to the endpapers but interior pages clean. ***In a very good illustrated dustwrapper with some marks and creasing commensurate with age and handling. The dustwrapper has been corner price-clipped, but is otherwise complete, without any chips - just some light creasing at the extremities. There is a 2cm closed tear at the top of the spine with some associated creasing to the top of the back panel. Dustwrapper clean - just slightly browned with age. ***374 pages including a complete Discography and The Beatles Finances at the back of the book. 222 mm x145 mm. ***Contents: Introduction, Part One: Liverpool, Part Two: London and the World, Part Three: Today, Appendix A - The Beatles' Songs, Appendix B - The Beatles' Finances. ***'Throughout this biography the Beatles are talking about themselves, then and now.
