Quite how Joseph Dudgeon Follows becomes one of the top 50 tycoons in the country before he is 30 is bewildering. The narrator - who meets him at a peculiar seaside clinic - is alternately humiliated and betrayed as he follows his exasperating friend through his giddy rise and giddier fall.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Heinemann, London, 1991, first edition. Sir William Robert Ferdinand Mount, 3rd Baronet, (born 2 July 1939), is a British writer, novelist and columnist for The Sunday Times as well as a political commentator. Mount worked at Conservative Party HQ as Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit during 198283, when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister and played a significant part in devising the 1983 general election manifesto. Sir Ferdinand serves as Chairman of the Friends of the British Library and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (FRSL) in 1991. This book is his fifth novel. This book came from the library of Jane Purves who was a politician and Minister of Education and then Health in the Progressive Conservative government in Nova Scotia for the years 1999 2003. Previously, she was a managing editor for the local newspaper. No wonder she collected Mount's books! Her signature appears on the front-end paper. This book, 321 pages, is in near fine condition in a near fine dust jacket now protected in a mylar wrap. A very acceptable copy of what has become a scarce book. Codice articolo 1537h
