Descrizione libro Paperback. Unpaginated. Sixteen plates of traditional Arabic patterns as used by artists, architects and craftsmen in creating the beautiful works of their times. Modern designers will also find these plates useful, and colourists will delight in the infinite possibilities these figures give them. Because of religious prohibitions of figurative representation, Islamic art followed a very different path from Western art. Islamic artists and craftsmen sought to merge the spiritual with the aesthetically pleasing use of ornamental design. Arabesques, geometric patterns, and symbolic images of animals and plants fill the tile-covered walls and floors of mosques and are present in the intricate designs of carpets. These illustrations can be coloured with crayon, felt-tip pen, acrylic, watercoulour, tempera or oil paint. Mixed mehtods can be used to create even more interesting effects. Colouring one side or both can produce rich combinations. Book in very good condition. Some very minor edge wear to covers and previous owner's name to inside of front cover. None of the sixteen plates has been coloured in any way. Book. Codice articolo 1307753
