This book documents the major retrospective exhibition of work by the British artist Howard Hodgkin (1932-2017) held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas and the Kunstverein fur die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Dusseldorf in 1995-6. Michael Auping, John Elderfield and Susan Sontag examine different aspects of Hodgkin's work and evaluate his importance in post war 20th century art.
