L'autore:

Annie Cohen-Solal was born in Algeria. She is currently Professeur des Universités at the Université de Caen Basse Normandie and in charge of the Géopolitique de Sartre seminar at the École Normale Supérieure. She first came to New York in 1989 as the Cultural Counselor to the French Embassy in the United States, after her Sartre biography, Sartre: A Life, had become an international best seller. Her encounter with Leo Castelli prompted her to shift her interest to the art world. After winning the Prix Bernier of the Académie des Beaux-Arts for Painting American (Alfred A. Knopf) in 2001, she was awarded the ArtCurial Prize for the best contemporary art book for Leo Castelli & les siens; (Gallimard, Paris). She is currently writing a monography on Mark Rothko for Yale University Press ( Jewish Lives series) and Actes Sud, organizing with the Ecole Normale Supérieure a Sartre Night which will take place on June 7th 2013. She has been appointed Conseiller spécial auprès du Président du Centre Georges Pompidou, Alain Seban, and Commissaire général de Magiciens de la Terre 2014 to organize a series of events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the legendary Magiciens de la terre exhibition. On June 22nd 2009, in the French Consulate in New York City, she was awarded the Legion of Honor of the French Government by Ambassador to the United States Pierre Vimont. She lives in Paris and Cortona.
