Free to adopting schools without a contract, site license, or any fees whatsoever, TLE is sold to students in the form of a workbook (the Student Workbook), plus the complete software product on CD. There is an accompanying Instructor's Resource Manual (IRM) for each course product containing information to help instructors implement TLE into their curriculum. Developed in Macromedia Director, TLE is attractive with a professional look and feel, and runs fast and reliably on all Microsoft Windows and Macintosh platforms. Delivered on cross-platform CD-ROMs, it can run on a stand-alone computer, over a LAN, and over the internet. THE LEARNING EQUATION is equipped with a sophisticated, browser-based course management system and assessment package. TLE uses interactive, activity-directed learning to involve students in their own education. The Learning Equation provides institutions with a technology-based solution for self-paced, at-a-distance, lab-based, or lecture-based developmental mathematics curriculum. By providing a student-centered, interactive, activity-directed teaching and learning environment, educational institutions can offer their students a flexible, multi-platform, efficient way of meeting base mathematical requirements for graduation. With the browser-based course management and assessment components, instructors are able to track student progress, run reports, create print and on line tests and quizzes, and communicate with their classes. If the institution chooses to use Brooks/Cole Thomson Learning servers, they won't have to be concerned with the installation and upkeep of costly server hardware.
