Dr Dan Sylveste, an archaeologist who has for years been fascinated with the long-dead alien race the Amarantin, is about to discover something that could change the course of mankind. But before he can act on anything his wife is killed and he is captured when a coup sweeps across the planet Resurgam.
Meanwhile, an astonishing ship bearing a crew of militaristic cyborgs and a kidnapped Gunnery Officer is bearing down on Resurgam, crossing light years of space to enlist Sylveste¿s help to save their metamorphosing Captain. Only Sylveste, or, more accurately, the software programme containing his father¿s knowledge that he carries in his mind, can save the Captain.
None of them can anticipate the cataclysm that will result when they meet, a cataclysm that will sweep through space and could determine the ultimate fate of humanity.

Descrizione libro Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Revelation Space (2000) by Alastair Reynolds. Published by Gollancz. First edition. First print. Signed by Alastair Reynolds (Bookstore sticker, not attached). Book and dust jacket are in Fine condition with only minot shelf wear. Alastair Reynolds belongs to a new generation of critically acclaimed authors who will still engage with space opera but who have tended to take down a notch the epic scope that characterised the resurgence of space opera in the 1980s. Revelation Space is the first book in Reynolds' Revelation Space series (2000-2003). It chronicles humanity s colonisation of space, a precarious and disparate effort that is threatened by a space plague known as the Melding Plague as well as a mysterious, advanced machine civilisation.
