Robert Silverberg was born in New York City. He has been a full-time writer since graduating from Columbia. He has been nominated for more literary awards than any other science fiction or fantasy writer alive or dead. He and his wife Karen Haber live in San Francisco.
Earthmen and strangers – some extremely strange – populate the twenty wonderful stories featured in Volume 5 of Robert Silverberg’s collected short fiction. The very first black hole in fiction appears in '‘To the Dark Star’'; there is agony in '‘The Pain Peddlers’' and deadly alien technology in '‘The Sixth Palace’'; the dangerous vision of '‘Flies’', the threat of '‘The Reality Trip’', '‘Trees with Fans’' and the needle teeth of '‘Bride 91’' – all these wonders and many more in a collection of thrilling originality and masterful storytelling.
“We travel in the hands of a master. Silverberg’s touch is assured, his prose clean and wonderfully effective ... he succeeds brilliantly in conveying the unknowable strangeness of the universe.”
NEW SCIENTIST
“Silverberg seems capable of amazements beyond those of mere mortals”
