Descrizione libro Condizione: Very Good. Grade 10-12-- In this satiric fantasy, Herb Hertzman is about to graduate f rom high school and doesn't know what he wants to do in life, except that h e wants love and money. His school counselor sends him to Castles in the Ai r, where he is able to try different experiences. During three trips in the Upwardlimobile, Herb tries Crime, Politics, and Health Care--all of which prove bizarre experiences. On a quest that is a part of his third trip, Her b loses his virginity to the lovely young woman who accompanies him. Thomps on writes with verve and originality, and one can be caught up in his narra tive, especially the hilarious scenes in Herb's second journey to Hometown, a place that has the Big Red Chicken as mayor. But, although there is some very funny content here, the writing lacks discipline. And one wonders why Thompson consistently uses "like" in its current slang manner. Does he con sider it, "like," trendy and appealing? One can't but believe that much of his humor will go right by nearly all adolescent readers, although there wi ll also be much that they will get, and there's some powerful wish-fulfillm ent for boys.
