Hitler's confidant Martin Bormann attempts to leave Berlin with the Fuhrer's last testament and the secret Swiss bank account number that will unlock a fortune in ODESSA funds. But Bormann is killed by an enigmatic Dutchman Schumacher, who then impersonates him and takes his treasure and his place aboard an escape plane (a captured U.S. Liberator) flown by German pilot Werner Koessler. While flying over the Zuyder Zee, they are shot down by a German flak gun, Koessler ditches in shallow water, and escapes alone as the Liberator sinks 40 feet into the mud carrying with it the oilskin package and several packing cases of Nazi treasures. 1963. the Zuyder Zee is about to be drained and the plane wreck discovered. Koessler needs to hide his Nazi past, a Jewish Nazi hunter looking for clues to Bormann's past, and Schumacher who has in fact survived and plans to use the ODESSA money to revive National Socialist extremist groups. Caught in the middle is diving rigger Tom Manderson, hired to do the dirty work. Codice articolo 006278
