What a pleasure to spend time with this collection of beautifully crafted, deeply moving poems. The first thing I was taken with is Dominique’s ability to place the reader in a kind of liminal place (physically or emotionally), quietly haunting places, places that at any moment could vanish. A powerful tension moves throughout this collection, a collection filled with fresh, vivid images and new ways of exploring and expressing old themes. –Cathy Smith Bowers
At its best, Dominique’s work is so musical, replete with prosodic fun and Appalachian twang and lyrical intensity. There’s a natural easefulness to the storytelling on the page. –Alan Michael Parker
Not without humor, the beautiful poems of The Goodbye Child navigate the terrain through loss to love—love, that is, the refuge where grief at last can reside. —Sally Keith
