Cybille was born and raised on Long Island, New York to Haitian parents. As a senior in high school she wrote and directed her first ever bi-cultural play focusing on the identity struggles faced by Haitian-American youth within her community. While receiving her B.A in African American Studies with a concentration on cultural and social analysis from the University of Maryland, College Park, Cybille became increasingly interested in the rights of women in America and abroad, particularly within Haiti and the Caribbean. She is currently focusing her efforts on empowering young girls and women in Haiti through various cultural programs, as well as through the organization Pouvwa which hopes to establish a media & cultural center for women living in Haiti.
