Paolo Giuseppe Cortellini was born in Ancona, Italy, during the final stages of World War II. After immigrating with his family to the United States, he studied accounting and earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, and went on to receive a certified public accountant license. Although his profession is in finance, his passions lie in classical music and Italian cooking.

Cortellini grew up in the kitchen, at his mother’s elbow, assisting her with family meal preparation. Later in life, he returned to Italy for a fifteen-year period, during which he became proficient in traditional Italian cooking.

Now retired, Cortellini splits his time between the kitchen and the writing desk to memorialize his family’s story of immigration and his mother’s collection of marvelous recipes.
