This atlas for students, teachers and specialists, now available for the first time in paperback, contains 275 detailed and wide-ranging maps on all aspects of Roman Britain. The maps are drawn to a series of standard scales. They cover political and military history, as well as the physical geography of Britain and the view Roman geographers had of it. They include evidence for economic activity, such as mining and pottery production, studies of life in town and country, and information on religion. Major monuments such as Hadrian's Wall feature on the larger-scale maps and plans.

by Barri Jones and David MattingleyReview:
... a rich treasury of information and of stimulation of thought...They combine to form an important text book ... a remarkable compilation... the task of compiling all these maps (almost 260 in number) must have involved unimaginable labour, for which the authors deserve the warmest gratitude. The Atlas will be a necessary addition to the bookshelves of all those concerned with Roman Britain - and indeed with the Roman world." (review of the first edition) (S S Frere Britannia, 23, 1992)
