At this place a space between the bench and the siding.7 is left, 6 inches wide, to allow the free circulation of the heat from the pipes, which are placed under the bench. The sides next the walk are left Open. That is to say the space all below the bottom of the bench is not confined in any way. In putting the boards for the bottom of the bench we use 6-inch boards placed at about half an inch apart, to allow ample drainage. These cracks are cbvered with a little moss or excelsior.
