After a car crash spoils Amy Sheldon's happily-ever-after, she realizes it's a long road to recovery . . .
The house she rents is being sold and the flower shop she manages is going out of business, which leaves her with devoted cat Trixie, best friend Wendy and a razor sharp wit to keep her sane.
Though Amy's trying to make a comeback, it isn't easy. The accident left its mark on every aspect of her life. And just when it seems she'll be stuck in neutral forever, in walks the slick and sexy Henry Castle.
But Henry's not just a hotshot lawyer who knows his way around the sheets. He's one of Amy's steadiest flower shop customers, sending weekly bouquets as thanks for "incomparable evenings." Amy knows smart girls don't fall for flower-sending gigolos, and though she can't quite figure him out, she also can't shake the feeling that Henry's exactly what she needs.

Can a Baltimore flower shop manager find love with a lawyer known for sending bouquets to different ladies each week? Malin's first adult novel (she's written two teen mysteries as Libby Sternberg) offers a whimsical look at the vagaries of dating through the eyes of Amy Sheldon, 26. Amy's had a rough time ever since she "killed" her fiancé, Rick, in a freak car accident two years ago. The flower shop, a low-key retreat from her former advertising job, tumbles her into a new relationship with one of the shop's most loyal customers. Henry Castle is passionate, emotional and full of life—with a reputation as a "bed-hopping Latino." Amy constantly questions whether Henry is right for her, and the obsessing gets tiresome, especially when circumstances force her to move into Henry's apartment. But an intriguing side plot about her best friend, Wendy, who gets pregnant after she learns her boyfriend has a West Coast wife, adds punch and pathos to the story, and there's a hilarious interlude about a down-and-out Catholic college where Amy gets a job in an overburdened PR department. Lightweight but cute, Malin's plot moves along steadily enough toward its inevitable happy ending. (Oct.)

Amy Sheldon's life jumped off the fast track when her fiance, Rick, was killed in a car crash. Amy now runs a flower shop and lives a sedate life until the day she mixes up an order for one of her best clients, Henry Castle, who routinely sends flowers to a bevy of women. Henry storms into her store, enraged, but the encounter ends with the two in bed. Amy knows Henry's reputation, but she can't help being drawn in by his charm, even after she learns he works for her dead fiance's law firm and in fact took Rick's job after his death. But as Amy begins to invest more in her relationship with Henry, she trusts him less and less, even after his overtures toward her look more and more like a genuine commitment. Malin's clever debut toys with chick-lit stereotypes and offers quite a few surprises along the way. Kristine Huntley
