On September the 11th 2001, Detective David Fitzpatrick was on his way to work when he heard the news of the attack on the World Trade Centre. He immediately got into a Police helicopter and went up into New York airspace as all other commercial air traffic was grounded. The result is this unique collection of disturbing and devastating photos of the events that day.
Because of his credentials as a police officer he also has unrivalled access to the site of Ground Zero. The latter part of the book contains intimate and heartrending scenes of the wreckage.
In an unprecedented move the N.Y.P.D. has allowed Penguin to release the photos in book form.
