9780672337499: Microservices with Docker on Microsoft Azure

Sinossi

This is the first complete developer's guide to applying microservices and containers to real-world cloud applications and devops workflows. Three pioneering Microsoft Azure enterprise cloud consultants will show you exactly how to support a state-of-the-art microservices design devops lifecycle, and implement cloud applications that take full advantage of a modern cloud platform's services, features, flexibility, and manageability. You'll learn how to use a microservices software design approach to reduce friction, accelerate releases, improve code stability, and respond to a business environment where new features must be placed in production immediately. Along the way, the authors demystify both microservices and containers, helping developers understand exactly what problems these technologies can solve, and how to make the most of them.

The first guide to focus on actually applying microservices and containers, this book presents detailed Microsoft Azure concepts and examples that you can draw upon no matter what cloud platforms you use. Coverage includes:

  • Understanding how a microservices container-based approach changes the way you build, deploy, and manage software
  • Integrating microservices and containers with devops to make your processes even more effective
  • Using Docker in Microsoft Azure environments
  • Taking advantage of Visual Studio 2015's support for microservices and containers
  • Handling build, test, deploy, automation, orchestration, monitoring, and management
  • Applying microservices to improve resilience and security
  • Using pre-flight checklists to make sure you've done everything right
