Evan Cornog is the author of The Birth of Empire: DeWitt Clinton and the American Experience, 1769-
1828, and is currently an associate dean at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. He lives in New York City.

Richard Whelan, an independent cultural historian, is the author of numerous books, including acclaimed biographies of Robert Capa and Alfred Stieglitz. He lives in Brooklyn.
