Those included here are drawn from several collections of her work, the first published in 1932 and the latest in 1984. The aim is to suggest the breadth and scope of her work. The author's first novels were Lolly Willowes (1925) and Mr Fortune's Maggot (1926). Many of her stories were first published in the New Yorker and two collections - Scenes from Childhood and One Thing Leading to Another - were published posthumously.
