In this unique and timely volume, Hugo Latymer reveals the extraordinarily rich diversity of trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and cacti that will flourish in regions where summers are hot and dry and winters mild and wet.Hugo Latymer's knowledge and enthusiasm, drawn from 20 years' experience of gardening on the island of Mallorca, are communicated in his descriptions of more than 300 plants. Whether your garden is a few square feet or several acres on a terraced hillside, you will find a wealth of ideas for colorful and interesting plants to fill pots, train over pergolas, cover difficult terrain, or to grow as spectular specimens. The author also suggests a variety of garden designs - always encouraging imaginative solutions while insisting that gardens are primarily to be enjoyed.
